The college was established in the premises of The School of Arts (College of Fine Arts) Palayam, in the year 1958 with an intake of 120 students in Three branches of engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. In the year 1962 the college was shifted to the present campus at Vattiyoorkavu the land famous for the 1938 Vattiyoorkavu Conference.
