Basic Qualification

You need to have passed your 10+2 exam with science subjects, which include physics, chemistry and mathematics, and any one of the following subjects -biology, biotechnology, or computer science. Entry to most four-year BE/ BTech courses is either through an all-India level, entrance exam, such as IIT-JEE, AIEEE, etc, or through state-level exams. There are many colleges which offer admission based on merit. Another option available to students is to pursue a diploma in engineering.

Finances

Engineering course fees vary a lot from institutes and countries. State and country funded Institutions have nominal fees where as private institutions have high fees divided into semesters. Plan your finances as it`s a four year long program which can run into six years if you plan to masters as well. Educational loan is easy to get if you manage to get through a reputed Institution. There are various companies which give out scholarships to meritorious students, besides the scholarships available from the institute.

Area of Specializations

Molecular Engineering
Molecular engineering helps in developing a whole range of materials and structures, having applications in medical products, pharmaceutical drugs, new materials, nano robots, molecular machines etc. It may be used to create a new molecule which may not exist in nature, or be stable beyond a very narrow range of conditions.

Control Systems Engineering
Control systems engineering involves the design and manufacture of instrumentation to ensure safe and efficient system performance by controlling dynamic processes automatically. It helps in developing flight and propulsion systems of commercial airliners to the cruise control in many modern automobiles.

Geotechnical Engineering
Geotechnical engineers has had a hand in virtually every structure that is constructed as they deal with the investigation of a site to determine its engineering properties. They study the soil and bedrock on and below the site and its interaction during construction, which helps them to determine the designs and the type of foundations, earthworks, and pavements required for building the structures. The engineers play an important role in the modifications, expansions or rehabilitation of these structures. Geotechnical engineers also assess the risk to humans, property and the environment from natural hazards.

Biochemical Engineering

Subsurface Imaging
