By Air
All major airlines fly to and from Mumbai to most of the important cities of the world. The international terminal of Mumbai is known as Sahar and the domestic terminal is known as Santa Cruz. Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the major airdrome that receives both domestic and international traffic to the city. It has two domestic and two international terminals, which are connected by shuttle services.
By Train
Mumbai boasts of an extensive network of rail tracks, which connects the city with all parts of the nation. Besides Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal, there are other railway stations at Bombay Central, Churchgate, Dadar and Kurla. Central Railways runs services to the east and north, the Western Railways also runs trains to North India from Churchgate and Central stations.
By Road
The National Highways No. 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 17 pass through the city, making it accessible from all parts of the country. Besides these National Highways, the Mumbai-Pune expressway traverses through the city.Most long distance buses leave from the State Transport Terminal located opposite Mumbai`s Central Railway Station. Also most of the neighboring states like Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh have their state bus company offices located here.
By Sea
Mumbai port is one amongst the best natural harbors in the world, it handles 50% of the passenger traffic and most of the cargo of the country.It`s also an important Navy base. Islands and beaches are well connected by ferries that start from Ferry Wharf. Many travel companies provide sea-cruises to Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, etc.
Local Trains
they are the quickest way to get around the city. They are crowded in the peak hours, unless you're going away from town in the opposite direction.
City Buses
Mumbai has a vast network of buses connecting different parts of the city. There`s a long wait for buses and they take too long to reach a destination.
Taxi cabs
They are a convenient mode of transport which is usually available in town,Churchgate VT,Nariman Point, south of Bandra/Sion.
Autorickshaws
Another convenient mode of transport only allowed to run in the suburbs Andheri, Borivali, Thane, Vashi.
Churchgate, Bandra, Juhu, Matunga and Mahim.
