IIT-JEE

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) conduct a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) every year for the admission to its B-Tech and other courses offered at the IIT Mumbai, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Chennai, IIT Kharakpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, IT Varanasi and ISM Dhanbad.
A candidate can sit for JEE only twice, in consecutive years.

Format of the Exam

Paper - 1
Duration:3 Hours
Question Type:Objective type questions from chemistry, physics and mathematics. Each paper has three subsections and contains the questions from three subjects without sectional time limit.
Paper - 2
Duration:3 Hours
Question Type:Objective type questions from chemistry, physics and mathematics. Each paper has three subsections and contains the questions from three subjects without sectional time limit.
Aptitude Test for B.Arch. and B.Des
Duration:3 Hours
Question Type:Questions on Freehand & Geometrical drawing, Three-dimensional perception, Imagination and aesthetic sensitivity, Architectural awareness.

Eligibility Criteria

Min Qualification:10+2
Qualifying Subject(s):Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subject in the qualifying examination with one language and any other subject.
Min Marks:Candidates belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their Qualifying Examination. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in the Qualifying Examination.
Min Age:For GE and OBC categories, only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1984, are eligible to appear in JEE-2009. For SC, ST, and PD categories, candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1979, are eligible.
Reservation Crieteria:For OBC candidates belonging to Non-creamy layer, 18% of total number of seats are reserved in each of the older IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee), IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad and 27% of total number of seats are reserved in each of the new IITs (Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Punjab and Rajasthan).For candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories, respectively 15% and 7.5% of the total number of seats are reserved in each IIT, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad.
